1. Create a new Task
Click the “+ Plus Sign” in the top right corner.
Select NFC to be the “Trigger”. There are other options, but that is for a different tutorial.
2. (Optional) Add Restrictions
Ignore this and tap Done. Lets keep it simple if you want your NFC Tags to work the same way any time, location, or day.
If you want to enable an NFC Tag to function only on specific days, or while on a specific Wifi network, or between a certain time of the day then this step is for you.
We recommend trying these restrictions out and creating unique tags for different alarms for the weekend or weekday.
3. Add Tasks or Function
Click the “+ Plus Sign” on the Tasks Page.
Add one or a dozen tasks for your smartphone to perform.
You can adjust your brightness, ring volume, notification volume, and auto launch an app all in one NFC tag.
4. (Optional) Add Tasks to the Switch Page for a Toggle Feature
Scan the NFC Tag a second time and these tasks will be performed.
Example: Turn Bluetooth on, then Turn Bluetooth off on the second scan. It will forever toggle between the two each time the NFC tag is scanned.
You can reverse the brightness and volume settings between 100% and 10% with this feature.
5. Scan the NFC Tag to program
Place the NFC Tag against the back of your smartphone to write the data or tasks
Each smartphone has a “sweet spot” where the NFC Chip is located in the phone
Learn your individual smartphone’s “sweet spot” location by trial and error.
Success! Scan the NFC Tag again to watch the magic!
Some Extra Notes
Your smartphone must be unlocked and displaying the homescreen to scan NFC tags. This is a security feature.
You must have Trigger installed to use these NFC Tags. To write NFC Tags that require no specific App to be scanned use NFC Writer by Tagstand
We recommend using NFC Tags to reduce a dozen smartphone taps into a quick scan. Think about tasks that you perform on your smartphone multiple times a week and require 30 seconds or more of tapping away. Setting volumes, brightness, launching websites, mobile apps, and more can all be done with one scan of a NFC tag.
For the adventurous we recommend using Trigger to call a “Tasker Task” using the plugin available. Tasker is an extremely powerful mobile app that can automate your smartphone and other connected gadgets in amazing ways for a true automation experience.
